Introduction to The B12 Betrayal

Failure to diagnose vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to irreversible neurological damage, including:

  • brain damage in young children whose mothers had undiagnosed B12 deficiency
  • degeneration of the spinal cord, in a person of any age, resulting in severe neuropathy
  • dementia and neuropsychiatric disorders, especially in the elderly

In addition, undiagnosed vitamin B12 deficiency can cause a wide range of symptoms, many debilitating, that can be easily reversed with correct diagnosis and treatment.

Errors in pathology, arrogance, apathy and greed have caused the failure to diagnose vitamin B12 deficiency, potentially leading to the unnecessary suffering of thousands of patients in Australia.

Pathologists, doctors, the medical media and governments have betrayed the trust of patients by failing to acknowledge the widespread, and devastating, problem of undiagnosed vitamin B12 deficiency.

What Others Discovered

In their book Could It Be B12? An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses, reference DB01, Sally M. Pacholok and Jeffrey J. Stuart expose the magnitude of the problem of misdiagnosis of vitamin B12 deficiency. According to Bernard Rimland, PhD, Director, Autism Institute:

Pacholok and Stuart expose a major health-care scandal: the failure to identify and treat hundreds of thousands of patients who suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency.

According to Oh and Brown, reference DA01:

use of a low serum vitamin B12 level as the sole means of diagnosis may miss up to one half of patients with actual tissue B12 deficiency.

In 1996, Mounira Khoury, Leslie Burnett and Mark A Mackay, reference AA01, reported:

Error rates in Australian pathology laboratories vary widely, but may be as high as 46% for all specimens in some laboratories.

What I Discovered

I investigated the causes of misdiagnosis of vitamin B12 deficiency, and found very serious errors in pathology:

  • labs did not recommend the right tests
  • interpretation information was incorrect
  • results were not accurate

As my investigation continued, I also encountered:

  • Apathy and uncooperative response of pathologists, including deliberate destruction of my blood samples
  • Apathy and uncooperative response of doctors
  • Censorship of my story by medical media, and disinterest by the general media
  • Apathy of governments and organizations claiming to uphold quality standards

By publishing the results of my investigation on this web site, I expose this betrayal of the patients by the medical profession, medical media and governments in Australia.

All of my claims are fully supported by evidence that is available on this site.
