Introduction - The Retirement Village

Village Location

The Laurel Springs Retirement Village is located at 18 Doolan Street Nambour 4560, in Queensland Australia.

Tenure Format

The older part of Laurel Springs comprises 16 Bodies Corporate, originally containing a total of 76 freehold title units. A few of those units have recently been bought by the scheme operators and converted to leasehold.

In 2018, the scheme operators commenced the development of an extension to Laurel Springs comprising 15 leasehold units. Four of those units were completed in late 2019 and two were occupied but, because the new units are unsafe, none are now occupied.

Village promotion

Residents Committee

Laurel Springs does not have a Residents Committee.

The Retirement Living Code of Conduct

The Laurel Springs Retirement Village is not a signatory to the Retirement Living Code of Conduct.

Governing Law

The Laurel Springs Retirement Village is governed by the Retirement Villages Act (1999).

Regulation

The Regulatory Services Unit of the Department of Housing and Public Works was responsible for enforcing the Retirement Villages Act; the Minister was Michael (Mick) de Brenni. The responsibility is now with the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy; the Minister is Leanne Enoch.

Scheme operator

According to the Certificate of Registration as a Retirement Village Scheme, the scheme operator of the Laurel Springs Retirement Village is Lusping Pty Ltd ABN 38 147 724 070.
